"more again"
Pencil, colored in photoshop

Here's the final version of the black and white drawing I posted a few days earlier.  It's an illustration to a poem written by Shane Cotier (the same writer I collaborated with on "Horror Stories").  I may make some minor changes in the future but this is it for now.

"Penelope and Booboo Participating in Meditative Thought"
Pencil, colored in photoshop

Hi, this is a drawing I did for fun.  I was not supposed to make it; it was supposed to just be a sketch.  But it kinda turned into one of those situations where you hit the end of the sketching stage and don't want to stop, you just want to keep working, and the next thing you know the piece has miraculously appeared in photoshop, nearly finished and ready to inhabit your blog.  So, a bit random, making this one!  But like I said, fun.

The point of it is to give myself some indication of what my characters and their environment might look like for a story I am writing.  The story's in a muddy place at the moment, so I won't explain what it entails.  All I will say is the girl, Penelope, is my main character, that there stuffed animal dog is her sidekick, Booboo, and the environment these two exist in has no concept of day; it is always night.

All righty, see ya now!

"Bunny with Cupcakes and Cheese"
Pencil, colored in photoshop

My friend's mom is putting together a recipe booklet for the staff of her workplace and asked me to do a cover illustration for it, so I drew this bunny with some cupcakes and some cheese.  Here's what the cover ended up looking like:

That's all I have to share.  Good bye now!

"Interior Scene I"
Pencil, colored in photoshop

Something for fun.

By the way: some time a bit back I wrote one of my goals for the beginning of March was to have another realistic rendering of my mom finished... just saying, yeah, that isn't going to happen...  I decided the end of January to put the majority of my focus into illustration and get back to the mom renderings during spring/summer.  So, more illustrations to come, soon - I have a good number in various stages right now.  I also have a book dummy I've been working on but as for when that'll see the light of day, I can't say, I've spent just about as much time yelling at it as I have been making progress on it! Grr.  But anyway, till next time, bye!

"The Cowardly Lion"
Pencil, colored in photoshop

About a month ago I received an email asking if I'd like to participate in the "Not In Kansas Anymore: A Tribute to the Wizard of Oz" show in Los Angeles, California.  I said yes.  And then I created this piece for it.  It's of the Cowardly Lion and it's about his fear of sheep, inspired by the following string of dialogue...

Cowardly Lion: Look at the circles under my eyes.  I haven't slept in weeks!
Tin Woodsman: Why don't you try counting sheep?
Cowardly Lion: That doesn't do any good, I'm afraid of 'em...
Scarecrow: Aw, that's too bad.

It was a fun one to make.  Thank you so much Jessica Followell for asking me to participate!

To view more information about the show and to see the other artists participating, you can click here.

Also, if you live in the area you should see the exhibit!

Okay, bye byes.

"Little Drawing #3: Unicorns"

"Little Drawing #2: Snow Doggie"

Hi blog.  Lately in an attempt to beat the slug out of me when it comes to rendering I've been making lots of little black and white pencil drawings... Here's a couple I just finished.

I have other stuff in progress too and I'll post that when it's ready to be posted.  For now see ya!

"The Witch Winds"
Pencil, colored in photoshop

A pretend band poster - it's The Witch Winds.  I'm not sure what kind of music they play, probably some kind of dreamy-shoegaze-esque stuff.  And I don't know what the names of the group members are, I'm still thinking on that.  As for instruments, more are played than just the cat's bass.  I imagine since the vocalist has extra arms that she'd dabble in all sorts of instruments.  As for the little dog, he does nothing and plays no instruments, he's just there for no reason.

I have more works in progress, but I don't know how long it'll be till I'm finished with them, so... good bye for a while, or not a while, I'm not sure.
